Business Law: 30 Hours
This course is designed to familiarize business executives with the types of legal problems that occur in society, in general, and in the business world, in particular. Various areas of law will be reviewed including Contracts, Sales, Agency, and Government Regulation of labor and business. Ethical considerations regarding the application of the principles studied will also be examined.
Business Math: 30 Hours
The Business Math course is designed to introduce students to helpful tools that will enable them to perform quick, easy, and accurate basic math functions such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
Office Procedures Level 1: 30 Hours
This course teaches introductory office procedures and practices to the novice office worker. It consists of six Lessons and a Final Exam. Each Lesson is divided into Sections with related Tasks. There are questions at the end of each Lesson designed to reinforce the concepts the student has learned in the Lesson.
Office Procedures Level 2: 30 Hours
This course covers a variety of topics as it simulates an office environment and challenges students with tasks that they would typically perform. This course consists of six Lessons and a Final Exam. Each Lesson is divided into Sections with related Tasks. There are questions at the end of each Lesson designed to reinforce the concepts the student has learned in the Lesson.
Legal Transcription: 87 Hours
The Legal Transcription program is a self-paced, online program providing students with general legal knowledge and practical skills vital to becoming proficient legal transcriptionists. Individuals are prepared for working in a law firm or legal office, a service providing legal transcription, or as a freelance legal transcriptionist from their own home office. Areas covered will include an introduction to law in the United States and the court systems. Students will also learn legal terminology, specifically as it relates to a legal specialty. As well, major legal specialties will be discussed including criminal law, family law, and contracts to name a few.
Further, students will transcribe approximately 20 hours of business and law documents to build their skills in formatting of documents. They will be provided with all materials necessary to complete this including voice files on USB flash drive, an Infinity foot pedal, and a headset.
The program will provide a solid foundation for the successful future legal transcriptionist.
