This Phlebotomy Technician course will introduce students to the science and art of phlebotomy. Subjects that will be studied include medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, the various methods utilized for collecting blood samples and the equipment needed to accomplish this task, the use of technology in the realm of phlebotomy, infection control and regulatory safety assurances and legalities.

The Phlebotomy Technician Program prepares students to collect blood specimens from clients for the purpose of laboratory analysis. Students will become familiar with all aspects of blood collection and will review the skills needed to perform venipunctures safely. Also includes terminology, blood collection procedures, order of draw and other engaging topics.The Phlebotomy Technician Program prepares professionals to collect blood and other specimens from clients for the purpose of laboratory analysis.

This program also includes the online study guide, practices exam, and CPT exam voucher to sit for the NHA Certified Phlebotomy Technician Exam.

As a CPT, you’ll draw blood from patients in hospitals, blood centers, or similar facilities for analysis or other medical purposes. As a CPT, you may perform some or all of the following tasks:

  • Perform basic phlebotomy procedures
  • Evaluate patients for ability to withstand venipuncture procedure
  • Explain the venipuncture procedure and answer patient questions
  • Perform basic point of care testing, such as blood glucose levels on patients
  • Prepare blood, urine, and other body fluid specimens for testing according to established standards
