Description

The objective of this course is to draw attention to inspection requirements, which are similar for most types of gas turbines although mechanical details may be different.

NERC CEH: 2, OPS Topics 2, NERC Standards 0, Simulation 0, EO Credit - No, PE Hours 2

Course Objectives

Terminal Objective: The trainee shall describe inspection steps for the gas turbine hot gas path of a gas turbine.
- Enabling Objective: The trainee shall describe the inspection points included in the hot gas path.
- Enabling Objective: The trainee shall list steps (tasks) necessary for preparation for disassembly and inspection of the hot gas path.
- Enabling Objective: The trainee shall list components that are removed in order to complete an inspection of the hot gas path.
- Enabling Objective: The trainee shall describe tasks associated with disassembly and necessary steps taken with the vertical joint upper shell.
- Enabling Objective: The trainee shall describe the analysis of the inspection results.

Terminal Objective: The trainee shall describe the disassembly and reassembly of the section associated with the hot gas path.
- Enabling Objective: The trainee shall identify the components of the hot gas section.
- Enabling Objective: The trainee shall explain how these components are removed and inspected.
- Enabling Objective: The trainee shall describe how the upper and lower hot gas channels differ.
- Enabling Objective: The trainee shall list the steps necessary for reassembly of the hot gas section of the gas turbine.

Terminal Objective: The trainee shall describe the inspection steps for the hot gas path of the gas turbine.
- Enabling Objective: The trainee shall describe the methods and tools used for an inspection of the hot gas section.
- Enabling Objective: The trainee shall describe the necessary cleaning tasks necessary following an inspection of the hot gas section for each of the following:
o Nozzles
o Diaphragms
o Seals
o Channels
- Enabling Objective: The trainee shall explain the process of making clearance measures.
- Enabling Objective: The trainee shall summarize the procedure for inspection and reassembly of the hot gas section and components.

Terminal Objective: The trainee shall describe the procedure for making a major inspection of a gas turbine.
- Enabling Objective: The trainee shall list the components which are inspected on a major gas turbine inspection.
