Description

Using a simulated AGC system, this table-top exercise introduces various system events to reproduce an emergency response drill situation similar to those that occur in the actual workplace. During this module, you will be asked to analyze these events and to formulate your own response to an AGC emergency response drill.

If you are taking this course for NERC credit, the following credits will be reported.

CE Hours: 15, OPS Topics: 15, Standards: 2, Simulation: 15, EO: 15

Course Objectives

Learning Objectives:
- Trainees will demonstrate ability to mitigate loss of AGC Frequency input to a BA AGC system.
- Trainees will demonstrate ability to mitigate loss of dynamic schedule and communications link to a BA with substantial transmission and 500 kV interconnection.
- Trainees will demonstrate ability to mitigate multiple line loss and voltage degradation to anm electric utility with transmission, distribution, and embedded generation which also serves as the BA.
- Trainees will demonstrate ability to mitigate transformer bank fault at a ket griod facility.
- Trainees will demonstrate ability to mitigate activation of RSG reserve energy and delivery to adjacent BA.
- Trainees will demonstrate ability to mitigate loss of internal resource with request for activation of RSG reserve energy and import into the BA.
- Trainees will demonstrate ability to mitigate major event, intrnal resource loss, and underfrequency tripping.
- Trainees will demonstrate ability to mitigate major event beyond MSSC with required mitigation.
- Trainees will demonstrate ability to mitigate Eastern interconnection TLR event.
- Trainees will demonstrate ability to mitigate Western Interconnection COI dynamic mitigation.
- Trainees will demonstrate ability to mitigate voltage collapse and restoration.
- Trainees will demonstrate ability to mitigate blackout and restoration requirement with some outside assistance available.
- Trainees will demonstrate ability to mitigate loss of primary control facility.
