Course Objectives

Terminal Objective: The trainee shall define NERC acronyms and explain NERC terms.

  • Enabling Objective: The trainee shall explain the purpose and requirements of COM-001.
  • Enabling Objective: The trainee shall explain the purpose and requirements of COM-002.
  • Enabling Objective: The trainee shall describe PER-005 and explain the relevancy to emergency operations.

Terminal Objective: The trainee shall describe system dynamics and Standards directly relating to BES emergencies.

  • Enabling Objective: The trainee shall describe the basics of AC power flow.
  • Enabling Objective: The trainee shall describe the ACE equation and components thereof.
  • Enabling Objective: The trainee shall explain the basics of frequency response relating to emergency operations.
  • Enabling Objective: The trainee shall explain the importance of monitoring and managing reserve capacity (MW).
  • Enabling Objective: The trainee shall explain the importance of monitoring and managing reactive reserve capacity (MVAR).
  • Enabling Objective: The trainee shall explain the purpose and requirements of TOP-006.
  • Enabling Objective: The trainee shall explain the purpose and requirements of TOP-007.
  • Enabling Objective: The trainee shall explain the purpose and requirements of TOP-008.
  • Enabling Objective: The trainee shall describe at least five causes of transmission overloads.
