Spanish OSHA 10-Hour Construction Outreach Training Goes Online
OSHA Approves First Online Spanish 10-Hour Outreach Course
AUSTIN, TX -- (MARKET WIRE) -- September 11, 2006 -- 360training.com today announced availability of the first OSHA approved, online 10-hour outreach course for construction in Spanish. Until today, Spanish speaking workers were limited to seeking out Spanish instructor-led classes or had to attend courses in English. With today's announcement, Spanish workers will now be able to obtain critical outreach training in a native language through an approved online e-learning format available at OSHACampus.com.
According to the Department of Labor's Bureau of Labor Statistics, fatal work injuries among Hispanic workers increased by 2 percent to 917 in 2005, a new high for the bureau's Census of Fatal Occupational Injuries. The Spanish 10-hour outreach course provides a foundation of knowledge to help keep workers aware of regulations and safety principles to help prevent workplace fatalities and injuries.
The 10-hour program, offered in a self-paced multimedia format, covers key construction safety and occupational health objectives for entry level workers. The course emphasizes topic such as hazard identification, avoidance, control, and prevention, electrical standards, fall protection, trenching and excavation, scaffolding, tools, and personal protective equipment.
"This training program will be helpful to many Spanish speaking students as a foundation of occupational safety and health training," stated Don Guerra, OSHA Outreach Training Program Coordinator.
""Our goal is to cater and educate all people regardless of background and language in the construction industry," says Jeff Leiken, VP of Occupational Training at 360training.com. "The Spanish version of the OSHA 10-hour course will finally help the safety directors rest in ease that there is an easy, accessible and now understandable option for the Spanish speakers," Leiken added.
Handouts and training materials are available for download within the online course. Upon completion of the online course and final exam, trainees receive the 10-hour Department of Labor / OSHA completion card.
In a move that signals growing demand for online education in the Latin market, 360training.com is soon to announce the release of its complete OSHA courseware library in Spanish. The Spanish OSHA courses will join the ranks of the company's Spanish food safety manager and alcohol safety certification programs that were released in earlier this year.
