End of Course Instructions

To begin the PgMP certification process, you need to fill out a detailed application form highlighting your program management experience and other career highlights over the years. You can apply online at www.pmi.org or download printable application forms from the same website.

Some applications will go through an audit review. It is recommended to be prepared for the review.

The credentialing process consists of two evaluations: panel review and multiple-choice examination. In panel review, your application will be reviewed by a panel of credentialed program managers. They will check for clarity of thought, consistency in approach and assess your program management experience. The examination consists of 200 questions that need to be answered in four hours.

Your certification begins the day you pass the exam and is valid for three years from the date of obtaining the certification. Once you have attained the PgMP credential, you must participate in the Continuing Certification Requirements (CCR) program to maintain an active certification status. The PgMP certification cycle lasts three years during which you must attain no less than 60 professional development units (PDUs) toward credential maintenance.

Upon successful completion of a single cycle, a new, three-year cycle begins.

Quiz Information

Eleven end-of-chapter quizzes and a PgMP simulation exam are included to help you best prepare for your certification journey.

Additional Information

PMI PgMP credential is beginning to get recognized across industries. Many prestigious employment postings now state that a PgMP certification is highly desired or required for their program management positions. In fact, a large number of companies working with the U.S. Government now require PgMP certified individuals for handling their programs.

The certification essentially demonstrates your commitment to the profession of program management.

Further, program managers with an understanding of business strategy and program processes at a level required by the PMI are quite rare. The selection process is highly selective and difficult and there are only around 1000 PgMP certified managers today in the world. Hence, you can distinguish yourself from other program professionals by obtaining this certification.

According to CIO.com, many professionals have reportedly benefitted in terms of new jobs, promotions, or salary increases due to a PgMP certification. Also, nearly everyone stated that it helped their professional networking activities and put them in a better position for future opportunities.
