1. Complete Alabama Post-Licensing Coursework Online

The Alabama Real Estate Commission (AREC) requires 30 hours of post-licensing real estate education with an approved provider (like us!) before you can upgrade your temporary real estate license to a permanent license.

Our Alabama post-license courses are delivered entirely online – no commuting to a classroom. You can finish them at your own pace, on your own schedule.

2. Pass Your Proctored Final Exam

After you've spent the required time with the course material, we'll help you schedule a proctored final exam. AREC requires all post-license course finals to be witnessed by a third party to make sure you don't cheat.

After we receive your required paperwork and a passing score of 70% or higher on your final, you'll be able to access your certificate of completion. We'll also report your credits to AREC within 3 days.

3. Apply for Your Permanent Real Estate License

Once you have your post-license credits, you can apply for your permanent license, which Alabama calls your "original" license.

To keep your license active without interruption, you need to complete post-licensing and apply for your original license within six months of your temporary license's issue date. For inactive licenses, the deadline is one year after your temporary license was issued.

Your post-licensing credits also count as your continuing education for your first license renewal.

FAQs

How do I know you're an AREC-approved course provider?

You can look us up on AREC's website. Our Provider ID is 000097091-0.

How fast can I get through the post-licensing course?

By AREC's rules, you can't receive credit for completing more than 9 hours in a post-licensing course per day. That means your first attempt at the live, proctored course final can be no sooner than 5 days after starting the course.

What is the deadline for completing my post-licensing course?

An Alabama temporary real estate license is only valid for a maximum of one year, counting from the first day of the month after its issuance. To avoid having to restart the licensing process from scratch, you need to complete your post-license course and apply for your permanent ("original") license before that deadline.

However, the one-year deadline is for inactive licenses, meaning you can't work as a real estate agent during that time.

To keep your license active, you need to complete your post-license course and apply for your permanent license within six months of your temporary license's issue date.

This is the only way to prevent interruption in your practice. If the requirements aren't met, your temporary license will automatically become inactive after six months.
