Michigan Continuing Education Packages
Complete Michigan Continuing Education Coursework Online
Every 3 years, the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA) requires real estate agents and brokers to complete 18 hours total of continuing education (CE).
With our online, self-paced courses, you can fit your Michigan continuing education into your schedule instead of shuffling your schedule to accommodate your CE.
Meet Real Estate CE Requirements in Michigan
Of the 18 CE hours, 9 hours must focus on legal topics relevant to Michigan real estate and fair housing. These mandatory hours must be spread across the renewal period, requiring 2 hours of legal credits and 1 hour of fair housing credit per year. The remaining 9 elective hours can be completed anytime during the three-year cycle.
LARA uses the licensee expiration date as the deadline to complete the yearly 2 hour of legal and 1 hour of fair housing credit.
Take Continuing Education Courses that Interest You
Our CE packages are designed to spread all your credits out evenly over the renewal period, without repeating any courses. Working one package per license year is a foolproof way to ensure you meet your requirements with 2 legal credits and a 4-hour elective, for a total of 18 credits.
But that's not your only option. We have over a dozen electives with varying lengths that you can use to DIY your dream CE. And you can pick up your legal credits a la carte, if that's all you can fit in this year.
However you slice it, you'll get a certificate of completion for each course you pass. LARA requires you to retain this documentation for four years. You'll be responsible for producing proof of training hours when they ask.

FAQs
How do I know you're a LARA-approved course provider?
You can find us on Michigan's CE Marketplace under Distance Learning, course codes C017819 through C017840.
What is the deadline for completing my continuing education courses?
You need to complete 2 hours of legal credits by October 31st of every year.
All of your elective credits are due before your license expires.
How do I turn in my CE hours?
Michigan no longer requires you or us to submit proof of CE.
Instead, they enforce your continuing education with audits. You have to keep proof of continuing education for four years after your completion date and produce it upon request.
What else do I need to do to renew my license?
LARA will send you a renewal notification about 90 days before your license expires. You're now required to renew online, including fee payment. Applications or payments received by mail or in person won't be accepted or processed.
If you don't meet all renewal requirements by your expiration date, you won't be able to legally practice.
