Complete Michigan Continuing Education Coursework Online
Every 3 years, the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA) requires real estate agents and brokers to complete 18 hours total of continuing education (CE).
With our online, self-paced courses, you can fit your Michigan continuing education into your schedule instead of shuffling your schedule to accommodate your CE.
Meet Real Estate CE Requirements in Michigan
Of the 18 CE hours, a total of 6 need to focus on legal topics relevant to Michigan real estate, like statutes, rules, and court cases. These mandatory hours have to be spread out across the renewal period, so you complete 2 hours of legal credits per year.
The remaining 12 hours of elective topics can be completed any time during the three-year cycle.
LARA used to base their CE requirements by the calendar year, but that's no longer true. As of 2018, the "year" starts on November 1st and ends on October 31st. Keep this in mind when you're spacing out your yearly legal courses – taking one in December and one in January no longer follows the rules.
Take Continuing Education Courses that Interest You
Our CE packages are designed to spread all your credits out evenly over the renewal period, without repeating any courses. Working one package per license year is a foolproof way to ensure you meet your requirements with 2 legal credits and a 4-hour elective, for a total of 18 credits.
But that's not your only option. We have over a dozen electives with varying lengths that you can use to DIY your dream CE. And you can pick up your legal credits a la carte, if that's all you can fit in this year.
However you slice it, you'll get a certificate of completion for each course you pass. LARA requires you to retain this documentation for four years. You'll be responsible for producing proof of training hours when they ask.
