Complete New York Pre-Licensing Coursework Online

The New York State Department of State (NYSDOS) requires 75 hours of basic real estate education with an approved provider like us before you apply for your real estate license.

Our New York pre-licensing courses are delivered online – you can finish them at your own pace. No need to commute to a classroom, even for your proctored final.

Pass Your Proctored Final Exam Online

NYSDOS requires your final course exam to be supervised (or "proctored") to make sure you don't cheat. Typically, that means scheduling an in-person test with an approved proctor.

But we offer Online Proctoring for the New York Real Estate Salesperson course. You can schedule your exam any weekday between 7am and 10pm Central Standard Time (CST). You'll take the exam in front of a live proctor via webcam.

You need a grade of 70% or higher on your final to pass the course. You'll get a certificate of completion for your records, and we'll report your credits to NYSDOS within 15 days.

Prep for the New York Licensing Exam

New York State actually gives you 8 years to pass the state license exam after successfully completing your pre-license course. We really recommend you don't wait longer than you have to, however – the exam covers the coursework, so the longer you wait, the more you'll have to study to refresh your memory.

Either way, we suggest you take advantage of our exam prep course, which you can buy separately or as part of the Premium Package. You'll get condensed study guides to focus your efforts on important subjects, as well as practice exams that test you in the same areas as the official state exam.  By taking advantage of these materials, you'll be confident you're prepared before you ever walk into the exam center.

What are the system requirements for online proctoring?

To use our Online Proctoring Service, you have to take the test on a computer with the following requirements:

  • Browser: Google Chrome (download) or Mozilla Firefox (download)
  • Operating System: Microsoft Windows or Mac OSX
  • Internet Speed/Bandwidth: at least 4Mbps
  • Built-in or USB Camera and Microphone

If you try to use another operating system and/or browser, your system will fail the compatibility test and you won't be able to take the proctored exam.

Online Proctoring is a live session where the test is taken by computer and the test-taker is visible at all times via webcam to the proctor. A webcam, microphone, and minimum bandwidth are essential to this service.

If your system does not meet these minimum requirements or if you need assistance, please contact our support team at

How do I apply after I pass my state licensing exam?
