Because of the important position of trust and responsibility agents hold, state real estate regulatory agencies require licensees to pass real estate courses and licensing exams and commit to a high level of ethics and accountability. To conduct real estate activities in California, you must have an active California real estate license. To get licensed, you take a course, file an application, and pass a test.
