  • Prelicense Requirements

    To get a real estate license in Nebraska, you need to meet the basic qualifications, complete mandatory education, submit an application, pass the licensing examination, and find a broker to sponsor you.

    Salesperson Licenses

    Salesperson license applicants must complete two 30-hour, Commission-approved courses in real estate subjects or the equivalent distance education courses approved by the Commission.

    Broker Licenses

    To get a broker license, you either:

    Have first served actively for two years as a licensed salesperson or broker, and furnished evidence of completion of two 30-hour courses in addition to the hours required to take the salesperson examination; or
    Furnish a transcript that you’ve passed real estate course(s) of at least 18 credit hours (6 courses), or completed 6 real estate courses of not less than 30 clock-hours each, or completed equivalent distance education courses approved by the Commission.

  • License Renewal

    To renew a two-year salesperson license, you’ll need to pay a renewal fee ($160), take continuing education, and complete a renewal form. All licensees must also review their errors and omissions insurance coverage.

    Applications for renewal must be received in the office of the Nebraska Real Estate Commission on or before November 30, 2017.
