About this Course
The following course is intended to help you to prepare for the NERC Certification Exam. This course will familiarize you with many concepts that you should expect to encounter in the exam.
In this part you will distinguish between an EHV DC and an EHV AC 3-phase and what advantage the former has over the latter as well as its drawbacks. You will also discuss the function of a 500 kV shunt reactor and give examples of good and bad communication.
In terms of NERC and the regional coordinating authority, you will describe why the phrasing in regulation is not meant to denote an option but rather a series of commands. You will recall NERC DCS (Disturbance Control Standard) criteria and various timings and values associated with NERC requirements, as shown in the NERC Timing Matrix. While your mastery of e-Tagging is critical, you will also outline such processes as TSIN (Transmission Services Information Network) registration.
The course also offers a variety of review documents, study tools, and practice exam questions to aid you in your preparation efforts. This course is a tool and to be effective it must be coupled with your study of the NERC Standards and real-time application thereof.
