About

How Do I Get TABC and Food Handler Certified?

To obtain both food handler and TABC certifications, you need to complete specific training courses. For TABC certification, you must complete a course approved by the TABC.

Similarly, for the food handler certification, you must complete an accredited food safety course. Upon completion of each course, you must pass an examination to receive your certification.

This is an excellent option if you're working in a restaurant or for a catering company and need both certificates. Plus, you can ensure you're meeting any state-mandated training requirements.

Within the courses, you'll learn valuable lessons that will help you succeed in your job. For example, the TABC course covers the laws in Texas for serving and selling alcohol so that you can avoid penalties related to underage drinking. The food handler course teaches you the best practices and techniques for preventing foodborne illness.

Once you complete each course and pass the final exams, you'll earn your Texas Food Handlers Certification and receive a Texas Food Handlers Card. You can take your certificate to your employer to show proof of training.

FAQs

Are TABC and Food Handler the Same Certification?

No, TABC and food handler are not the same certification.

TABC certification is specific to the laws and regulations regarding the sale and service of alcoholic beverages in Texas. On the other hand, food handler certification focuses on safe food handling practices and is required for individuals who work in establishments where food is prepared and served.

While both certifications are often required for hospitality and food service employees, they cover different areas of expertise.

How Long Does TABC and Food Handler Training Take?

The duration of Texas food handler and TABC training can vary. A TABC certification course typically takes about 2 to 4 hours to complete. For food handler training, the course duration can range from 2 to 3 hours.

However, the time to complete these courses can vary based on the provider. For example, online courses offer the flexibility to complete the training at your own pace.

Can I Take a TABC and Food Handlers Package Online?

Yes, our TABC and food handlers package is 100% online and can be taken at your own pace, anywhere with a reliable internet connection. Upon completing the course, you'll immediately receive a printable TABC certificate and food handler card.

What Is TABC and Food Handlers Training Good For?

TABC and food handlers training is required for anyone working in the food and beverage industry in Texas. TABC training ensures that individuals serving or selling alcohol understand the state's laws and regulations regarding alcohol sales, such as preventing sales to minors and handling intoxicated customers. Our food handlers course educates food service workers on proper hygiene, food safety practices, and how to prevent foodborne illnesses, ensuring that food is handled in a way that protects public health.

How Much Does TABC and Food Handlers Certification Cost?

TABC and food handler courses may have varying prices depending on the course format and the provider. 360training provides a competitively priced package that includes both TABC certification and ANAB-accredited food handler training for your convenience. This option includes a food handler card and a downloadable certificate for both courses. Please note that a mandatory $2.00 state filing fee will be added at checkout.

How Long Does TABC and Food Handlers Last?

TABC certification is valid for two years from the date it is issued. To stay compliant, you must renew it every two years by retaking the course.

Our ANAB-accredited food handler certificate is valid for three years. However, we always recommend checking your state/local regulations for specific renewal requirements.

When do my courses expire?
