Fatigue is a state of physical or mental exhaustion resulting from prolonged periods of exertion, mental stress, or lack of adequate rest and recovery. It can manifest as weariness, tiredness, or a reduced capacity to perform tasks effectively and can be caused by various factors including inadequate sleep, excessive physical or mental workload, prolonged hours of work, shift work, or stress.
Fatigue can significantly impair cognitive abilities such as attention, decision-making, memory, and reaction times. This can lead to increased errors, accidents, and reduced ability to effectively perform tasks that require focus and concentration. This course will teach students about the various types of exhaustion, how to identify factors contributing to fatigue, and environmental factors.
