About This Course

The objectives of our online OSHA 8 Hour Hazardous Materials Technician Level III Responder Refresher training is to meet the OSHA HAZWOPER refresher training requirement of 29 CFR 1910.120(q)(8) and 29 CFR 1926.65(q)(8).

This course is also intended to meet any OSHA HAZWOPER training requirements for the EPA and State OSHA regulations.

NOTE: This course has been revised to include the guidelines of the 2024 Emergency Response Guidebook, providing essential information for hazmat employees and first responders during the initial stages of transportation emergencies involving hazardous materials or dangerous goods. Notable updates feature new animated scenarios on vital topics like "Protective Actions" and "Isolation Distances." These improvements ensure participants are thoroughly equipped to manage emergencies efficiently and safely.

Learning Objectives

Identify hazardous substances and recognize hazmat incidents;
Use the current Emergency Response Guidebook (ERG);
Describe pertinent regulations and standards that apply to the Hazmat
Technician, including Emergency Response Planning;
Explain toxicology exposures and effects, exposure standards, and physical
and chemical properties;
Implement site control, incident safety, and risk assessment techniques;
Discuss advance hazmat mitigation techniques; and
Indicate appropriate hazmat decontamination.
