About this Course

What is Health Hazards in Construction Training?

This course gives you a basic understanding of hazardous materials in construction and hazard communication standards.

We'll discuss OSHA's Hazard Communication Standard (HCS), including the Globally Harmonized System (GHS) of chemical labeling and classification.  These standards ensure that you get information about hazardous materials that put you at risk in the workplace.

You'll learn how to understand labels for hazardous materials and how to look up the information on a Safety Data Sheet (SDS).

You'll also get an overview of common hazardous materials in construction. We'll discuss where you're at risk of exposure to each, the common methods of exposure, and how to protect yourself.

Who should take Health Hazards in Construction?

If you work on construction sites, you're at risk for exposure to these hazardous materials.  We recommend all construction workers and contractors complete this course.
