Should I Take the MSHA Part 48 2-Hour or 8-Hour Refresher?
It depends on your training needs and level of experience. The 2-hour refresher is best for returning underground miners who need a quick review of safety topics or a reminder of recent compliance changes. The 8-hour refresher is required annually for most experienced underground miners to meet full MSHA Part 48 refresher requirements under 30 CFR 48.8 and 48.28.
If you’re unsure which version applies to your situation, start with your mine operator or safety manager. You can also learn more on the MSHA Part 48 8-Hour Underground Mining Refresher course page.
