About This Course

Confined spaces in underground mines add serious risk to an already hazardous environment. This online course prepares underground personnel to recognize, assess, and control confined space hazards. Learners review confined space types (permit-required and non-permit), roles and responsibilities, permit elements, and more.

Designed for operators, supervisors, safety personnel, and all individuals who work at underground mines, the content references 30 CFR Part 48 for underground mining, related MSHA provisions in 30 CFR Parts 56 and 57, and applicable OSHA confined space standards (29 CFR 1910). It can be used within a company’s MSHA-approved training plan. Mine operators remain responsible for any required site-specific hazard training and for recording training on MSHA Form 5000-23 as outlined in 30 CFR §48.23.

If you need confined space training for surface mining operations, please visit our MSHA Part 46 Confined Spaces course.
