This Surface Mining Emergency Procedures course will educate you on the requirements and emergency procedures that can keep mine workers as safe as possible during an explosion, fall, mechanical failure, or other type of mine emergency.
You’ll learn the Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA)’s emergency operations regulations and training requirements. We’ll introduce you to procedures for emergency response plans, rescue operations, self-rescue devices, first aid, and accident reporting.
All individuals who work at a surface mine need this Surface Mining Emergency Procedures course. That includes mine operators, supervisors, safety personnel, managers, and other mine workers, all of whom have a responsibility to ensure that MSHA standards are being observed at all times. During this time, you're expected to accrue 12 months of work experience in a mine. If you don't, you may need to retake the course. If you do, you'll be considered an "experienced miner" and, as such, will be subject to different training requirements.

How Long Can I Access My MSHA Surface Mining Emergency Procedures Course Materials?
Learners have 60 days from the date of enrollment to complete the course and final assessment. For online purchases, this starts on the date of purchase. During this time, they can log out and back in to return to where they left off in the course. The only exception is the final exam, which must be completed in a single sitting.
Be aware that there are two dates in the system: a due date and an expiration date. If an administrator purchases the course, they can assign a due date, which can be earlier than the expiration date.
