OSHA 10-Hour Construction Training Overview

Our OSHA 10-Hour Construction Training Course gives entry-level workers the essential knowledge to recognize, avoid, and report the safety and health risks found on every job site. It is part of our broader OSHA 10-Hour training courses, designed to help workers navigate common construction hazards so they can stay safe and feel confident at work.

This course covers the construction safety requirements under OSHA 29 CFR 1926, including OSHA standards and commonly accepted safety practices for preventing the top causes of injuries and fatalities in construction:

  • Slips, trips, and falls
  • Struck-by hazards
  • Electrocution risks
  • Caught-in or caught-between incidents

You'll also gain a clear understanding of your employer's responsibilities for maintaining a safe workplace and the rights OSHA grants you as a worker, giving you the awareness to recognize when safety standards aren't being met on the job site.

Are you working in New York City? Local Law 196 of 2017 established specific regulations through the NYC Department of Buildings (NYC DOB) regarding job site safety.  Click here to register for courses to complete your NYC SST certification.

OSHA 10-Hour Construction Certificate & DOL Card

OSHA does not "certify" workers. This course is part of the OSHA-authorized Outreach Training Program for Construction and results in an official OSHA 10 Department of Labor (DOL) card, a widely recognized credential available through the Outreach Training Program.

Upon successful completion, you will receive:

  • An immediate certificate of completion, available upon finishing the course and required assessments
  • An official OSHA 10 DOL card, mailed after course completion — typically within 2 weeks

The OSHA 10 DOL card does not expire under federal OSHA. However, employers, states, cities, or specific job sites may require refresher training — commonly every 3–5 years. Always check with your employer or local jurisdiction for any additional requirements.

Who Needs OSHA 10-Hour Construction Training?

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration defines "construction work" as work for construction, repairs, painting, and decorating. Generally, you will need OSHA Construction training if you're an entry-level construction worker or contractor. Examples of construction jobs include carpenters, electricians, laborers, masons, plumbers, sheet metal workers, tile workers, and welders.

All entry-level construction workers should complete the OSHA 10-Hour Construction Safety Outreach course, with some workers requiring additional training for specialized work. If you don't work in construction but still need 10-hour OSHA online training, we offer a separate general industry course.

Our course leverages state-of-the-art, engaging content for a rich media experience.  It is more accessible across browsers and mobile-capable, enabling improved speed and interactivity. This leading-edge design includes games and quizzes to motivate students, enhance retention, and increase participation.
