What is OSHA 30 hour training for general industry?
If you are a safety manager or supervisor, our 30-hour OSHA General Industry course with free study guide is your guide to creating a culture of safety in your workplace. You will get a complete overview of the policies, procedures, and standards covered by OSHA 29 CFR 1910.
You will learn the basics of a workplace safety and health program and how to manage both. This includes understanding an employer's responsibilities for worker safety, as well as workers' rights to learn about the potential hazards of their job.
The course also covers all the hazards you may encounter in many different industries, from scaffolding to bloodborne pathogens. You will learn essential safety procedures such as lockout and tagout protocols, machine protection mechanisms, and industrial hygiene.
Your Department of Labor card will be issued to you within two weeks of completing your online training and passing your exam.
Is OSHA 30 training necessary for general industry?
OSHA 30 General Industry is not required but is recommended for safety managers, foremen, and field supervisors. All workers in general industries can benefit from it. Examples of these industries include manufacturing, warehousing, distribution, and healthcare.
This course is NOT for the construction industry - there is a separate 30 hour OSHA course that addresses specific construction standards.

How does OSHA online training work?
All of our online OSHA training courses can be taken from the comfort of your home. Not only do our courses allow you to satisfy OSHA requirements from home, but they are also self-paced and can be completed at any time within a year of your purchase.
What are the rules for OSHA training online?
For OSHA 30 training programs, students must:
- Spend at least 1,800 minutes or 30 hours on the course.
- Just spend a maximum of 7 hours and 30 minutes on the course each day.
- Complete a course evaluation survey upon completion.
- Pass all tests and the final exam with a score of at least 70% in three attempts or less.
- Access training only within the jurisdiction of the United States.
How long is the OSHA 30 training course?
After you enroll, your course is valid for 12 months, so you can access it at any time during this period. However, after the first time you start the course, OSHA rules state that you must complete it, including the survey, within 6 months.
Also, if you fail all attempts at the OSHA test or final exam, you will no longer be able to access the course.
I have finished the course. When will I get my Department of Labor (DOL) card?
When you successfully complete the course and pass the final exam, you will receive a DOL card in the mail within 2 weeks.
How can I get proof of completion while I wait for my DOL card?
After completing the course, go back to your "My Training" page and click on the certificate icon. If you have completed the course requirements, you will be able to view and print your temporary OSHA 30 certificate.
How long is OSHA 30 certification valid?
There is no expiration date on the DOL card. However, due to frequent changes in OSHA regulations, we recommend that you renew your training every 3-4 years.
Also, some states or employers may have their own renewal requirements. For example, New York and Nevada require that you retake the course every five years.
Please check with your employer or state for additional requirements.
What can I do if I lose my DOL card?
You can request a replacement DOL card by contacting our support team at (877) 881-2235 or email@example.com , or you can request a replacement card online. Please note that the replacement of the card has a cost.
What if I need a refund for my construction training course?
If for any reason you are not satisfied and would like a refund, please send us a request within 72 hours of purchase. These are the requirements that you must meet:
- Your purchase was made no more than 72 hours prior to your refund request.
- You have not:
- You have tried to take any part of a test or exam.
- You have requested or been issued a certificate of completion.
- You have completed 50% or more of the course purchased.
If you meet all of these criteria, please send your refund request in writing by email to firstname.lastname@example.org with a purchase receipt and an explanation of why you are requesting the refund.

How can I get CEUs (Continuing Education Units)?
You must complete and pass the course syllabus in order to earn CEUs.
What is the course completion criteria to obtain CEUs?
- You must spend the required time in the course syllabus before the course can be completed.
- You must validate your identity throughout the learning event to pass the course.
- Pass all quizzes and the final exam with a score of at least 70% in three attempts or less before a certificate of completion can be issued and CEUs can be awarded.
