About

Scissor lifts are a common sight on any construction site; however, they pose many risks. That’s why every company who uses scissor lifts is required to provide OSHA-aligned training, instruction, and hands-on evaluation to ensure that every employee is up to speed on the most recent OSHA safety rules and can operate scissor lifts safely.

Learn to identify workplace hazards before they injure anyone on your team. This course will go over the essentials of training such as fall protection, stability, and maintenance. Our training course is aligned with the current OSHA regulations such as anatomy, operations, risks, and more. We offer practice quiz questions for the final written exam and a checklist for employers when administering a practical exam.

FAQs

What Is a Scissor Lift?

Scissor lifts are a type of MEWP that extend up and collapse. They are compact and can be easily stored, making them an essential piece of equipment for any work site.

What Are Scissor Lifts Used For?

Scissor lifts are preferred for indoor operations due to their lightweight and user-friendly design, making them practical for up-and-down mobility tasks. Typical tasks for scissor lifts include the following:

  • Indoor maintenance in buildings with higher ceilings
  • Organization, administration, and general upkeep of warehouses where safe access to tall shelves
  • Working on inclines or uneven terrain
  • Working in confined outdoor areas where an upward and downward lifting action is required

How To Become a Scissor Lift Operator?

Operating a scissor lift is relatively easy, but certain prerequisites must be met before you can use it. Candidates must successfully complete a safety training program that verifies their ability to operate the lift safely. After completing the training program, workers must show their employer or supervisor what they have learned and how to operate a scissor lift safely and effectively.

Why Do I Need a Safety Training Course?

When employing scissor lifts, many workers suffer injuries or lose their lives every year. There are many possible risks, including falls, objects falling from the lifts, tipovers, ejections from the lift platform, structural collapses and failures, electric shock, and contact with ceilings and higher objects. This course will ensure operator and worker job safety by educating on the operation and specific safety hazards of scissor lifts.
