Do I Need Alcohol Server Training in South Carolina?
Yes. South Carolina requires all on-premises alcohol servers and managers working 10 or more hours per week to complete a state-approved training program under H.3430, signed into law in May 2025, and effective January 1, 2026. This course is approved by the South Carolina Department of Revenue (SCDOR) and fully satisfies that mandatory requirement.
To be approved under SC Code Section 61-3-120(C), alcohol server training programs and exams:
- Must be offered 100% online (classroom training is not permitted)
- Must be monitored by an online proctor
- Be offered in English or Spanish
- Be offered below the $50 state-published threshold
Through interactive and engaging modules, this course covers the full range of responsible alcohol service topics required under state law, including how alcohol affects the body, how to recognize signs of intoxication, how to check IDs and identify minors, and how to refuse service with confidence. A dedicated lesson on South Carolina liquor laws ensures you understand your obligations and protections under state and local regulations.
NOTE: Certification from other training providers completed in the past year is not accepted by the state for on-premises alcohol servers. However, some alternative training programs may be accepted for off-premises roles, such as those in convenience stores and grocery stores.

Does My Old Alcohol Training Certificate Count In South Carolina?
It depends on which certificate you have and why you earned it. South Carolina now has two separate categories of approved alcohol server training:
- South Carolina Alcohol Server Training – Mandatory training and a proctored exam are required for all on-premise alcohol servers working 10 or more hours per week, and managers who oversee alcohol service, at restaurants, hotels, or on-premise venues under SC Code Section 61-3-120(B) – H.3430. Must be completed within 30 days of hire.
- Penalty Mitigation Training – Required for employees who, upon inspection, have violated ABL laws or regulations under SC Code Sections 61-4-50(C) and 61-6-4080(C).
If your existing certificate was issued under the penalty mitigation program, it does not satisfy the new H.3430 mandatory requirement. These are separate programs, and one cannot substitute the other.
Alcohol Beverage License (ABL) Server Certifications/Licenses will not be issued to anyone under age 18.
If you are unsure which type of training you completed, check your certificate or contact the SCDOR directly through MyDORWAY.

What Is On-Demand Recorded Proctoring?
An on-demand recorded proctoring service (RPS) is a method of supervising your final exam remotely using your webcam. Instead of taking your exam in person with a live proctor, you complete it online while being recorded.
Our Recorded Proctoring Service is fully on-demand. When you finish your course content and feel ready to take the final exam, you can start your proctored session immediately.
After you finish, our team reviews the recording to verify that the session meets all compliance requirements. It is a fully accepted method under SCDOR rules and is how Learn2Serve delivers the required proctored final exam for this course.
What Equipment Do I Need?
You will need a computer or laptop with a functioning webcam and a stable internet connection. Make sure your webcam is working, and your environment is well-lit, before you begin. You should also be in a quiet, private space for the duration of your exam.
What Happens After I Complete My Proctored Exam?
Once you finish your exam, your recorded session is submitted automatically for review. Our team verifies that the session meets all SCDOR compliance requirements. If you passed the exam with a score of 70% or higher and your session is confirmed compliant, your completion is reported to the SCDOR within 10 days. You will then be able to download your official South Carolina Alcohol Server Certificate through your MyDORWAY account.
Who Reviews My Recorded Session?
Your recorded proctoring session is reviewed by the Learn2Serve proctoring team. They confirm that the exam was completed in accordance with SCDOR requirements before your completion is officially reported to the state. This review process is what allows on-demand proctoring to meet the same regulatory standard as in-person supervision.
What can I do if I lose my certificate of completion?
If you lose your Learn2Serve certificate of completion and need a new one, you can chat with Wizmo or send an email to support@360training.com.
