About This Course
Temporary elevated surfaces create many hazards that can cause injury to workers, pedestrians, and contractors.
In this refresher course, we'll familiarize you with relevant federal and local regulations on the use of supported scaffolds in New York City.
We'll also refresh your memory on how to prevent injuries while working on or near scaffolds. This includes personal protective equipment (PPE), passive and active fall protection, and a review of emergency situations and unsafe conditions.
This course is required for earning or renewing your Site Safety Training (SST) card.
Once you complete the lessons and pass the 20-question final exam with a score of at least 75%, you'll get a certificate of completion right away. You get 3 attempts to pass the final – we'll quiz you after each lesson to help you prepare.

What are the course completion requirements to earn CEUs?

- Complete the required time within the course curriculum before the course is considered finished.
- Validate your identity at designated checkpoints throughout the course.*
- Pass all quizzes and the final exam with a minimum score of 70% within three attempts or fewer before a certificate of completion can be issued and CEUs can be awarded.**
*How is identity validated during the course?
360training verifies each learner’s identity through periodic validation questions during the learning event. At the beginning of the course, learners are prompted to answer a series of personal validation questions. These responses are securely saved in the Learning Management System (LMS).
- What is your childhood nickname?
- What is the name of your favorite childhood friend?
- What is your oldest cousin’s first name?
Throughout the course, the LMS will prompt learners to answer these validation questions at preset intervals (e.g., every ten minutes).
- If a learner answers correctly, they are allowed to continue.
- Incorrect responses may result in the learning event being temporarily locked.
This process ensures the individual completing the course is the same person who enrolled.
**How are CEUs calculated?
Upon successful completion of the course requirements, CEUs will be awarded according to the following standard:
- 10 hours of education = 1.0 CEUs
- 30 hours of education = 3.0 CEUs
- 5 hours of education = 0.5 CEUs
Important: Partial credit or adjusted CEUs are not awarded. Learners must fully meet all course requirements, including identity validation, time-in-course, and passing scores, to receive CEUs.
How Quickly Will I Get My Certificate of Completion?
Upon successful completion of all required coursework and exams, you must provide documentation that verifies your identity and address, a recent passport-style photo, and an affidavit confirming that you completed the training yourself without outside assistance.
If you completed eligible courses with a provider other than 360training and want to apply those credits toward your SST card, you must also submit the corresponding proof of completion documents for validation.
In line with NYC DOB SST requirements, your certificate of completion will be issued only after all required materials have been received, reviewed, and approved. Please allow sufficient processing time for verification before your certificate is available to download or print.
Note that 360training is not responsible for any delays due to incomplete or inaccurate information provided or force majeure events.
Who Needs a Supported Scaffold Certification?
Although the term "certification" is commonly used, what you actually receive is training along with a certificate of completion. OSHA requires that all employees who work on or around supported scaffolds receive proper training from a qualified person. This includes construction workers, site supervisors, and maintenance staff. The training must cover how to recognize hazards, safely erect and dismantle scaffolds, use fall protection, and follow OSHA safety standards
How Long Does 4-Hour Scaffold Certification Last?
There is no official certification, only training with a certificate of completion, but employers and regulatory bodies typically recognize this training as valid for about 3 years. After that time, you’ll need to take a refresher course to stay current and maintain compliance.
Is This Supported Scaffold Course Hard?
How hard the course will be will depend on your previous knowledge and experience, but the course is designed to be clear, practical, and easy to follow for all learners. The content is broken down into manageable modules with quizzes to reinforce key concepts, making it accessible whether you’re new to scaffolding or have years of field experience. Most participants are able to complete the training successfully with steady focus and participation.
