About this Course
This six-hour Washington CE class was designed to make licensees, managers and brokers aware of the laws that are required by the federal Fair Housing Act (42 USC 3601 et seq) and the Washington law against discrimination (Chapter 49.60 RCW) as they relate to real estate.
The course is designed to cover the history of segregation including the Jim Crow laws, through the Civil Rights Acts and the enactment of Fair Housing laws. We will discuss the gains our country has made and the long way that is still to go.
Brokers and managers have a big role to play to make sure all licensees know the law and are carrying it out as intended. We will discuss how licensees can sometimes believe they are following the law when because of unconscious bias they are still encouraging and assisting segregation to continue.
