The most common cause of musculoskeletal injury in a workplace occurs when lifting heavy items. Workers in the construction industry, more than all other industries combined, report the highest incidence of back pain. Back injuries are a leading cause of disability among middle-aged workers.
The leading cause of most back injuries including pulled muscles, back sprains, elbow injuries, hernias, and shoulder injuries is handling and lifting heavy objects and materials. Learning proper lifting techniques will improve your safety and help prevent workplace injury.
This course covers the causes of lift-related injuries, identified the factors that increase their injury risk, and teaches how to recognize hazardous overexertion. This course also explains the effective control measures needed to reduce your risk by presenting the "Power Zone" strategy.
After completing the lessons and passing the 10-question final exam with a score of at least 75%, you'll receive a certificate of completion right away. You have three attempts to pass the final.
Note, THIS IS AN AWARENESS-LEVEL TRAINING ONLY and does not provide any other qualification or authorization outside of the Site Safety Training Card.
