Confined Space Entry Training 8 hours (General Industry)

Objectives of this course are for the student to:
-Understand the scope & application of OSHA's various confined space entry standards
-Identify "Confined Spaces", then determine if they are "Permit Required"
-Understand OSHA requirements for developing and maintaining a "Permit-required confined space entry program" / permit
-Know responsibilities of entrants, attendants, entry supervisors, contractors
-Identify when you may utilize OSHA's "Alternate Entry" and "Reclassification" procedures
-Understand the requirements for "Rescue & Emergency Services"
-Have a basic knowledge of the general use and limitations of related equipment

This course addresses the following topics, plus more:

• Evolution of early confined space entry standards
• OSHA's various confined space entry standards and related standards
• Basic requirements for all employers
• Identifying permit-required confined spaces (and non-permit spaces)
• Atmospheric hazards and non-atmospheric hazards
• Elements of a permit-required confined space entry program
• Reclassifying permit spaces to non-permit
• OSHA's alternate entry procedures
• Permits
• Duties of entrants, attendants, and entry supervisors
• Requirements for rescue and emergency services
• Monitoring atmospheric hazards
• Ventilation

There are no pre-requisites required to take thgis course. However, information and training is needed on your company's site-specific procedures, as well as any equipment related to confined space entry, including but not limited to respiratory protection, other personal protective equipment, atmospheric monitoring equipment, ventilation equipment, and emergency response / rescue. The employer is responsible for providing and documenting any/all additional training required per OSHA.

Each section of this course is followed by a short quiz on the content of that section. Students must correctly answer 80% of the quiz questions to proceed to the next section. The section quizes can be attempted three times. Failure to score at least 80% on any section quiz after three attempts will require the student to repeat that section.

Students completing the course are eligible to take the final exam online. A score of 80% on the final exam is necessary to print your personalized certificate of completion. The student gets three (3) attempts to pass the course.

This course includes a notes packet for the student to print out for use when taking the course. There are also links to view and print the OSHA permit-required confined space standard and appendices, as well as other useful materials.
