A Food Manager Certification is designed for mid-level or experienced professionals in the food service industry, such as restaurant managers, produce managers, c-store managers, etc. With the Food Manager Certification Exam there are no required courses or training requirements leading up to the exam (unless jurisdiction requirements stipulate otherwise). The learner is assessed based on their knowledge of a set of concepts.

Upon successfully passing the exam, the learner will earn their Certified Food Protection Manager (CFPM) designation (or CFP). This acronym can be added to the individual's name. The certification is valid for a period of three to five years. At the end of the certification period, recertification will be required.

Individuals can obtain the Food Safety Manager certification by following these steps:

  1. DSHS-approved certified Food Manager (CFM) exam.

  5. Receive the certification that is valid for 5 years.


What Is the ANSI Food Safety Manager Certification?

The American National Standards Institute (ANSI)-Conference for Food Protection (CFP) approves accredited Protection Manager Certification providers.


How Do You Get Certified?

To be a certified Food Protection Manager you must pass an accredited Food Protection Manager Certification examination. The exam covers food safety principles, temperature control, HACCP and sanitation, pest control, food handling and storage; and contamination identification and prevention.


How Do You Renew ANSI Food Safety Manager Certification?

The Food Protection Manager Certification is valid for five (5) years. You must pass the Food Safety Manager exam to prove you are competent to supervise food and beverage professionals to keep food safe for everybody and prevent foodborne illnesses.

For those that took their Food Protection Manager Certification from 360training on 2012, it will be time to renew your Certification as it will expire in 2017 due to the five years validity.
