Louisiana Bar Card Training Online

Louisiana issues a Responsible Vendor (RV) Permit, not a traditional "bartender license". Alcohol servers and sellers are required to complete approved Responsible Vendor training before serving alcohol legally. Completing approved training helps workers understand Louisiana alcohol laws, recognize intoxicated customers, and reduce liability risks.

Each state has its own laws regarding the service and sale of alcohol. Our Louisiana Bar Card training course equips employees with a working knowledge of Louisiana's alcohol laws, and responsible service practices.

One of the most important skills you’ll get from training is the ability to recognize intoxicated individuals and minors, preventing you from serving alcohol to intoxicated individuals and minors – protecting both you and the establishment you work for.

1. Take an RV Class: Enroll in an authorized provider Louisiana Responsible Vendor training course, like ours. These courses can be taken online or in person and cover subjects like checking ID’s, dealing with intoxication, and understanding alcohol-related laws in Louisiana.

2. Pass the Exam: At the end of the RV course, you will need to pass an exam with a score of at least 70%. We will provide you with a certification of completion.

3. Obtain Your Bar Card: After passing the exam, we will report your training to the Louisiana Alcohol and Tobacco Control. Then, your official bar card will be emailed to you by Louisiana ATC 10-15 business days after your training is completed.

Additionally, the LA-ATC imposes harsh penalties for serving minors under the age of 21 alcoholic beverages. Maximum penalties include fines up to $500 for a first offense, up to $1,000 for a second offense, and up to $2,500 for a third offense. You may also face the revocation or suspension of your alcoholic beverage or server permit.

You also need to know how to refuse service to intoxicated persons. By doing so, you can make Louisiana roads safer.
