OSHA DOL Card

OSHA DOL Card courses are part of OSHA's Outreach Training Program, which teaches workers how to recognize, avoid, prevent, and report workplace hazards. Course content is based on applicable OSHA standards found in 29 CFR 1926 for Construction and 29 CFR 1910 for General Industry, depending on the course you take.

While OSHA Outreach Training is not a certification program, successful completion of an OSHA-authorized course qualifies eligible learners to receive an official OSHA DOL Card. A legitimate OSHA DOL Card is issued only after successfully completing an OSHA-authorized Outreach Training course through an authorized training provider. Before enrolling in a course, you can confirm that the provider is listed on OSHA's official OSHA-Authorized Online Training Providers page.

If you completed your training through OSHAcampus by 360training, you can also use our Certificate Verification tool to confirm the authenticity of your course completion certificate. While the verification tool confirms your training completion certificate rather than your OSHA DOL Card itself, it provides an additional way to verify that you completed your OSHA-authorized Outreach Training.

Federal OSHA does not set an expiration date for OSHA DOL Cards, so they do not automatically expire. However, some employers, unions, job sites, or local jurisdictions may require workers to complete OSHA Outreach Training again after a certain number of years to meet their own policies or contractual requirements.

If you're unsure whether your OSHA training is still accepted, check with your employer or the organization requiring the training.

OSHA DOL Cards are not formally renewed. If you need a replacement because your card was lost or damaged, you should contact the OSHA-authorized training provider that issued your original card. If you completed your training through OSHAcampus by 360training, you can request an OSHA DOL Card Replacement.

Replacement cards are generally available only for training completed within the past five years. If your course was completed more than five years ago, the card typically cannot be reissued, and you'll need to retake the OSHA Outreach course to receive a new DOL Card. If you still have an older paper OSHA DOL Card, you may also be eligible to request an OSHA DOL Card Upgrade to a plastic card, if available through your training provider.

For example, OSHA's Focus Four—falls, caught in or between, struck by, and electrocution—is an example of a specific risk in the construction business. OSHA 10-Hour construction and OSHA 30-Hour construction training include these risks. Since workers must know how to safely operate their daily equipment, they are also covered in numerous heavy equipment construction training OSHA courses.

Many OSHA standards include specific training requirements for safety and health to ensure that employees have the skills and knowledge needed to do their jobs safely. These requirements are consistent with OSHA's belief that training is essential to any employer's safety and health program for protecting employees from accidents and illnesses. DOL cards have no expiration date set by OSHA. Those who require an OSHA DOL card, like as employers or state and local governments, will typically specify how frequently the training must be renewed.
