- Trainees will be able describe the characteristics and typical applications of different types of fuses used on distribution systems.
- Trainees will be able to describe factors which must be considered when a fuse coordination study is performed.
- Trainees will be able to explain the application of fuse coordination curves and manufacturers' tables in the development of a coordinated overcurrent protection scheme.
- Trainees will be able to describe the functions and applications of reclosers and sectionalizers in typical protection schemes.
- Trainees will be able to describe a typical distribution protection scheme involving reclosers, sectionalizers, fuses and overcurrent relays, and be able explain the reasons for the particular operating parameters selected.
- Trainees will be able to describe how conductor damage curves and 'notching' impact fuse coordination.
