Lifting heavy items is a leading cause of injury in the workplace. Construction workers report back pain in higher numbers than all other industries combined, and back injuries are the major cause of disability among middle-aged construction workers.
Handling and lifting heavy materials can cause back sprains, pulled muscles, elbow injuries, shoulder injuries, and hernias.
In this course, you'll discover the causes of these injuries, understand the factors that increase your injury risk, and learn to recognize hazardous overexertion. We'll also explain the effective control measures to reduce your risk, including the "Power Zone" strategy.
This course fulfills 1 hour of general elective credit toward earning or renewing your Site Safety Training (SST) card.
Once you complete the lessons and pass the 10-question final exam with a score of at least 75%, you'll get a certificate of completion right away. You get 3 attempts to pass the final.
Note, THIS IS AN AWARENESS-LEVEL TRAINING ONLY and does not provide any other qualification or authorization outside of the Site Safety Training Card.
